Ancient astronomy was pretty well obsessed with forecasting human activity and consequences. Modern astronomy is also involved in forecasting, but this has nothing to do with what we now call astrology. Some of the ancient 'astrologers' studied the star patterns and predicted eclipses, but these were always directed towards predicting our fortunes, and not studying these objects for themselves to understand what they were.
